Bruins 2 for 2 on the Powerplay

The Bruins struck twice on the powerplay in the first period against Luongo.

Chara scored off a nice feed from Marco Sturm.

Michael Ryder redirected a shot from the point by Marc Savard who has two assists so far. Savard has been on a roll since returning to the lineup and injecting some life in the Bruins offense.

Johnny Boychuck got hit with the puck just above the eye while blocking a quick shot on the penalty kill. On his his knees in front of Rask,blood dripped on the ice. The crowd erupted in cheers as he was helped to his feet and to the locker room.

Sean Thornton got the heart of the Garden pumping again with a scrap near center ice with Darcy Hordichuck.

If the Bruins want to win, they have to keep attacking the net and build a lead. Two goals won't be enough.

Two in 39 seconds,Canadiens tie it up at the Garden

In the blink of an eye, the Boston Bruins blew a two goal lead.

Glen Metropolit was in the right place at the right time as he scored for the Canadiens on their first powerplay of the game. Three Canadiens drove to the net, including Scott Gomez and Andrei Markov who were credited with the assists.

Thirty-nine seconds later and before the first goal was even announced, Roman Hamrlik tied it up.

The Garden boo birds could be heard.

2-2 after two periods.

B's keep firing; Kovie a Devil

After the first period, the Bruins have a 1-0 lead over the rival Montreal Canadiens.

They have a big advantage on shots despite some sloppy giveaways in their own zone with 15 shots on goal to the Habs 5.

Recchi deflected the puck past Halak after Wideman ripped it from the point on the powerplay.

No Way Jose for David Krecji

Despite firing 42 shots on goal, the Bruins were only able to get one to slide past Jose Theodore. The B's lost 4-1 to the surging Washington Capitals who extended their win streak to a club-record eleven.

"I wouldn’t give him credit for as much as he did. We had forty-two shots. I don’t think he was that good to stop us. We got him to make mistakes, and we just couldn’t bury those chances," said Bruins center David Krecji in the locker room following the game. "Those chances, usually we score those, but today we just couldn’t find the back of the net. Personally, I don’t think he was that unbelievable. I think it didn’t matter because we didn’t hit the back of the net."

Shouldn't the goalie get some credit for that?

Quarter For His Thoughts

Tim Thomas seemed deep in thought as he played with a quarter in his hand while a reporter asked him about the Bruins showing signs of promise after their 3-2 shootout loss to the LA Kings.

“Based on the performances we had in the last two games, we’re headed in the right direction,” said Thomas flipping the quarter in his palm.

When a reporter asked him about the coin, he said he found it lying around and joked about maybe using it for a vending machine or a phone call.

Thomas lost in a shootout for the second time this month against Jonathan Quick, his fellow Team USA goaltender in the upcoming Vancouver Olympics.
